In a remote island in
The kind scientist pitied the monkeys and finally he taught one of the monkeys how to get some sweet potatoes from the root of sweet potato plants and wash it with the sea water before eating it.
Later on, the monkey taught other monkeys in its tribe and the knowledge of harvesting the sweet potatoes began to spread.
By that, the monkeys will no longer suffer from the “food crisis”.
When the skill of harvesting the sweet potatoes and wash it with the sea water spread to the 100th monkey, the scientist found that other monkeys in the different remote island is doing the same thing (which they previously don’t)
That’s amazing. There’s no possible way for them to acquire this skills UNLESS by some form of intuitive universal sharing.

Not long after that, the same experiment was repeated in TV Networks in some other countries. Guess what, this time they have higher percentage of TV viewers who can solve the puzzle.
The puzzle was in pictorial form. That means, language and customs are not considered as the factor for the differences in the result.

Interesting post here and I would like to take you to a link in the wikipedia which will take you on a journey of discovery as it did for me.(Critical mass) When I read about these monkeys, the locale was Borneo. After I read about it, I studied more and the latest is in the book “Tipping Point” How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference (Paperback)by Malcolm Caldwell is a fantastic book on the subject. You will go on a voyage of discovery that is mind altering once you read the book.
What a fascinating story, for some reason it reminds me of that proverb, ‘to feed a man once, give him a fish, to feed him for life, teach him how to fish’
Hi Dining Room Tables,
Thank you for sharing your knowledge. That’s very informative.
The phrase critical mass reminds me of the chain reaction in a nuclear bomb.
Oh, I can’t see any link in your comment.
Hi Nicole,
Yeah, he really teach them how to “fish”.
That’s really cool, kind of like a pay-it-forward but in an interspecies sort of way. In a funny way, it make me think of the whole “prime directive” rule in Star Trek. In this case it seems to have worked out for the better. Can’t believe everything you hear on TV I guess.
Hi Megapixels,
Thanks for your comment. I didn’t hear it from TV but I read it from some ebooks.
