Are You Grateful?
June 8, 2008 | 16 Comments
Many things in this world are being taken for granted. Sometimes, we don’t seem to appreciate those little things in our lives until we lost it.
I’m not going to talk much today but I’m eager to hear what you have to say about this topic.
But … before you tell me anything about gratitude, watch this first.
What do you do to be grateful?
I write down at least 10 things I’m grateful for, weekly. Then I express my gratitude to those things I have written. How about you? Share it with me. Perhaps I can learn a thing or two from you.

Since my English is not as good as some of the more gifted ones, I would prefer to quote Margaret Stortz.
“When we are grateful for the good we already have, we attract more good into our life. On the other hand, when we are ungrateful, we tend to shut ourselves off from the good we might otherwise experience.”
Hi Dining Room Tables,
You’re being humble. I have never have any problem with your English.
That’s for sharing the quote. It is very meaningful.
You know that old story, “I cried for a new pair of shoes until i saw a boy who had no legs” Every time you catch yourself complaining or wingeing about something, start to count your blessings, remind yourself about how incredibly fortunate you really are, if not materially then emotionally or spiritually. Just take the time and count your blessings, they will surely eclipse your woes!
Hi Nicole,
Whenever I start to count my blessing, I’ll start to complain for not having enough fingers to count.
Just kidding. Thanks for your comment.
When I wake up each morning, I try to consciously tell myself I’m really grateful to be alive. Then I keep thinking about how good is my life and I’m grateful for it.
Some mornings when I wake up, I don’t have enough sleep and get grouchy, so I focus on being grateful for being alive helps me to re-align to being positive again. But it takes some time and effort

Hi Hai Liang,
Practise makes perfect.
Any time I find myself in a bad mood, I try to remember how many wonderful things I actually have. Ever since I’ve begun focusing on these things (the last 5-6 years or so), I’ve found that: (a) I’m happier with my own life, (b) I have a hard time believing in the existence of a kind god, and (c) I have an incredibly difficult time wasting money or even splurging on anything. There’s no way I could feel okay about carrying a $400 purse on my shoulder when that money could be helping someone who needs it far more. It makes it difficult to figure out where to draw the line between enjoying the rewards of your hard work and doing the right thing.
I have started a gratitude journal where I keep track of everything I am thankful for. It is a constant reminder of all of our blessings.
Joyce,
That’s one of the best things you can do.
Hi Stefanie,
The key is balance.
Not rewarding yourself may affect your subconscious mind negatively.
I learn this from T Harv Eker.
Raymond, I felt guilty as I watched the video. I always have left overs every time I eat. I felt pity for those people especially children who are suffering from starvation.
I agree, there are lots of things in life that we should be grateful of. Thanks for sharing this video, very touching!
Hi Stefanie,
Ha ha…I used to be exactly like you! But like what I learned from Harv, its better to reward yourself so you are happier to make more money to help others.
With more money, you can help more people who cannot help themselves.
Hi Land Project UK,
We’re just the opposite. I hope you’ll save more food and not just trash it away.
Well said, Hai Liang.
it is lovely that you take the time to write down what you are grateful for! this video is really sad …
Hi Coral,
Write down the things we are grateful for is powerful. Perhaps you may want to try it out (if you have not)
