For the health of your mouth, stop grinding your teeth. Stress seems to manifest itself in certain areas of our bodies, and the jaw is a primary target. If you begin to feel yourself becoming overwhelmed, put your index finger on your jaw, clench, take a deep breath in, and release both your jaw and your breath at the same time. You should begin to feel some relaxation from this.

If you are doing unhealthy things to deal with your stress, find other ways to do it. If you drink or eat too much when stressed, for example, take up exercise. It is normal to not want to burden friends and family by constantly talking about your issues, both daily and more complex. Sometimes, though, it is necessary to talk about these things. Your true friends will listen to your problems and offer their love and support.

Music, listening or playing, is a great tool for stress relief. You could create your own playlist or sit down with an instrument and create your own music. Whether you are sleeping, working around the house, or just taking a break, listening to music can really make your stress vanish. No matter what type of music you listen to or for what situation, music stands as a great way to deal with stress overall.

Your body cannot properly function without sleep. If you are tired, you will not have the ability to properly manage your stress. Getting enough sleep will help keep you alert and energized for your day.

Try some gardening to deal with the serious stress! Most homeowners are able to make a garden space somewhere in their yard.

Try to relax by closing your eyes and listening to some soft music. This does an amazing job at soothing away the tension and stress you are experiencing. Your body reacts to the power of music on many levels. Soothing music lets your mind drift away from the stress and into a calming place. This technique can be a great way to de-stress during an especially tense day.

Taking deep breaths before doing anything can make it easier to deal with stress. Step back, count to ten as you breathe, and then confront the situation. This simple act can make a huge difference between being calm and being stressed in the situation.

Make plans. By having something you are excited about, you won’t be focusing as much on your stress. Some great ideas include obtaining tickets to a concert or purchasing movie tickets in advance.

Shallow breathing can stress your organs and body, especially your heart and lungs. Slow, deep breathing should be done everyday; it’s relaxing and reduces stress. Practice rhythmic breathing methods and prompt yourself during the day to take deep breaths in order to hold stress to a minimum. Try taking a deep breath.

Activities that seem harmless can sometimes cause or increase stress. Spending hours in front of the TV or playing video games in an effort to unwind deprives you of time that could be spent in pursuit healthy stress relieving activities. You could be using this time to sleep or prepare a good meal.

Yes indeed. Grinding ones teeth has definite negative outcomes. Better to bite the bullet and eliminate the cause of the stress.

I think anything that lets you ‘escape’ the the day to day living stress will help. It could be all things your mention or even just watching TV.

Me…I dance! Put on some great music and dance. Great fun!

You dance? That’s very cool. I don’t even know how to dance. I mean the proper and correct way. ;)

Raymond, to make stress your friend and ally, love what you do, or stop doing it. A great method for stop doing it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYLMTvxOaeE  I split myself in two from laughing hard each time I watch this video – which isn’t that often :-]
Anyhoo, love what you and do then see what happens. Your world may expand or it may crumble. You decide which is important, at each new crossroads, love or your world. Both are important, of course. You might be amazed by your new world built with love.

Hi Raymond.  I like your tips for stress.  Music is one that I like and use.  It just calms the soul.

Beat like the video and yes, laughter is a good stress releaser.  I have found that when a stressful situation arrives if you can find a little humor in it things work about much better.

I will however try the vitiman c.  never hear about that one before.

      Thanks again and blessings always,
      debbie

Some great tips there thanks! I have music playing almost all day and I find chewing gum can help if my jaw is getting tight! Like Andrew I do dance sometimes, but with my 16 month old son – my dancing makes him laugh (and most other people if they saw me too!).
