. Just to clarify what I have shared, there is a huge difference between being responsible and being serious.

This is a common mistake as a lot of people may think that we have to be serious in order to be responsible. That’s not true.

I mean, it is not necessarily that way. One of the ways to be responsible without being serious is to be able to laugh at yourself. When something you have done has gone wrong, you can just admit it, laugh at yourself and be responsible at the same time.

Things get easier for you and the people around you when you laugh at yourself. Besides, it helps you to reduce or even eliminate your stress too.

As you have already known, stress is a negative emotion that will not only do you no good but also enhance your stress vibration to attract more stressful events back to you. Always bear in mind that the Law of Attraction is always working for you and everybody else.

Besides, as I have said earlier, stress is the root of most chronic diseases. So, stop killing your life and begin to live in the beautiful life you created for yourself.

What most people do is not necessary the best for you. That is the one thing that separated the successful people and the opposite.

So, do you laugh at yourself? Or are you serious all the time?

Raymond, you have got it absolutely right. A great sense of humor will make for a great life. Sadly, a sense of humor is mistaken for the ability to have fun at someone else’s expense. True sense of humor as you so nicely point out, is the ability to laugh at your self and the ability to crack jokes about yourself too, besides enjoying someone having fun at your expense.

The real key to making it work , is to play the role of observer with yourself. By standing back and observing your thoughts feeling and emotions your in a position decide how you would prefer to respond to a given situation . Everyone has stress it’s how we choose to respond to those stress’ . When you gain that perspective with yourself you more readily able to great more happiness an the “good stuff” that we all want more of in our lives. Great post .

If you don’t laugh at yourself how do you expect to learn from your mistakes. Good advice.

I think it is so important to have a sense of humor and to not take ourselves too seriously. I remember my father taught me when i was going to school that it you fall, laugh first so that people are laughing with you and not at you.

      Dear Raymond:
I think that your father gave you great advice. It is of the outmost importance to laugh at yourself, for how else could we keep our chin up when we fall. For example, lets say a lawyer falls asleep during a judges decision, one could put his chin down after being awoken or one cold laugh with the judge about the incident and comment why it took the judge 10 minutes to wake him up, all while being recorded.

I often wonder how people who do not have the ability to laugh at themselves manage to get through life. We all do silly and dumb stuff, but learning to laugh at yourself when you have been a bit silly is an essential part of life. Recognizing that you do not have to be perfect all the time and being able to admit it is healthy and a sign of good self esteem.
