Parachute Versus Taking Action
May 6, 2008 |
Last week, I have written a post about open your mind to the possibility of how things will be manifested to us. (You can read it HERE)
And, a day before that I wrote about taking action as the main ingredients to achieve your goal. (You can read it HERE)
Then I got this question from a reader, John.
Read the parachute article and it says to just dream of your goal and not the way of achieving it. Then in this article it says there’s not point in dreaming of a goal without actually knowing how to get to it.
Is it me or do these two articles contradict?
John
Thanks John, for your question.
In my opinion, the 2 articles are not contradicting to each other.
Here’s an example on what I mean.
Let’s say you want to attract a yacht. There are many ways for you to get it and you won’t know which is the best way for you to get it.
It could be:
- You strike a lottery that gives you the money to buy the yacht.
- You work hard and save enough money to fund for your purchase.
- You trade the yacht with something else.
- You inherit it from somebody else.
- You marry someone who own a yacht company
- And the list goes on.
**Note that it could also be the combination of the possibilities shown above.
BUT, you still need to take your action such as buy the lottery ticket, earn your money, marry someone, make an investment or sign the agreement, right?
It is like trying multiple efforts to reach the ONE goal.
A restaurant owner wants to attract a crowd of hungry customers to his restaurant. He doesn’t have to fix on how he gets the customers. He opens his mind to possibilities. He could get his customers from:
- Personal recommendation from satisfy and happy customers
- Advertisement
- Excellent service
- Tasty food
- Irresistible package
- And so on
However, he still needs to take action to improve the quality of his customer service, enhance the quality of the food, sends out flyers, organize a campaign, run advertisements, decorate his restaurants and so on.
Try to think what will happen if he doesn’t take all these action? Will he get the customers he wants? Unlikely
Only if he takes the action that he reaches his goals and at the same time, he still opens his mind like a parachute to the world of possibilities.
I hope these 2 examples have taken away your confusion.

As I always say - Action creates reaction. Take action and see what happens.

Hi Raymond,
You’re spot on - the law of attraction states that you can ask for what you want but you must let go of the HOW of how it will come to you - that part isn’t up to you. This can sometimes be the hardest part of loa, you have to trust that the Universe knows the best way to bring to you what you need.
Thanks for your post, I enjoyed it!
Hi JoLynn,
Thank you.
That’s the part that most people go wrong.
