“Quality questions create a quality life. Successful people ask better questions and as a result, they get better answers.” – Anthony Robbins

Why am I so stupid?

Why I always meet the wrong guy?

What’s wrong with me?

Why I never learn?

Why am I so poor?

Those are some of the questions I often hear from others. Do you ask yourself the very same questions too? Or you ask yourself a better question? How do you feel when you ask yourself these questions?

When you put out a question, you’ll attract the answer. That’s the Law of Attraction.

Whatever question you ask to yourself, your brain will find you an answer because you attract it.

If you ask yourself a quality question, your brain will find you quality answer.

If you ask yourself a lousy question, your brain will find you lousy answer.

If you ask yourself a crappy question, your brain will find you crappy answer.

It’s that simple.

So, be careful of what you attract into your mind.

If you ask yourself, “What’s wrong with me?” Guess what? Your brain will find everything that’s wrong with you (even it’s not true sometimes). It doesn’t care whether the answer is correct or not. It just simply finds you the answer based on what you ask.

You get the answer because you attract it.

Now, what will that do to you? What will that do to your emotion? What will that do to your feeling? What will that do to your self-confidence? Think for a moment before you continue.

Let us change the perspective now.

What if you ask yourself, “How I can improve myself?”

When you begin to ask quality question, your brain will find or attract quality answer to you because that’s how it operates.

Your brain will begin to find ways for you to improve yourself.

Here’s another example from Robert Kiyosaki (This is my favorite example actually) in his book “Rich Dad Poor Dad”

Robert says, whenever his poor dad come across something that they want to buy, he’ll always say, “I can’t afford it” while his rich dad will always ask, “How can I afford it?”

Do you get what I mean here now? Both are facing the same situation BUT the way they react to the situation triggers different neurons in their brain and thus produce a totally different result which leads to the difference in the quality of their lives.

Here’s what I want you to do. Are you ready?

Ask yourself 5 quality questions everyday for the next 30 days and see how your brain begins to work differently.

Check this mind power resources if you want to maximize the potential and the power of your mind to your own benefit.

I like the way you have turned the negative type questions around to open and positive ones.

I’m going to take up your challenge. Print the questions and have them in a place where I can see them several times a day.

      • raymond

        Hi Andrew,

I admire and impressed by your commitment. Go for it!

      • raymond

        Hi Beat,

Losing weight and enjoy the process? I like this one so much.

I just never think of it. Two heads are indeed better than one. :)

    • Beat Schindler

Raymond, the power of question – one of the most freeing things I learned in life. To know that thinking is nothing but a process of questions and answers … either makes you hot, or, as we know, doesn’t touch you at all. I saw it make a big difference in the life of someone who went from asking, “How can I lose weight?”, to asking “How can I lose weight and enjoy the process?” The power of question is not taught or even mentioned often. “It’s just too obvious”, and to philosophize about IQ instead is ‘sexier’. As is often the case with things just too obvious and too much common sense, it gets overlooked. Great post, enjoyed reading it.

    • Debbie @ Happy Maker

This is so very true. What you ask for you get. It is really amazing the power of the brain. I have my 5 questions written out. I am going to go for your challenge and thank you.

      • raymond

        Hi Debbie,

You’re welcome. The challenge will change your life positively.

    • Corinne Edwards

Raymond, this is probably the best article you have written.

Of course our brain will find everything wrong. It has a powerful computer that has stored all our grievances about ourselves.

And guess who is our worst critic? Yep, ourselves.

Thanks for the great reminder. I am going to start right away asking the right questions.

      • raymond

        Hi Corrine,

        Thanks for the sweet compliment.

We are indeed our own worst enemy. Our brain can make and at the same time, break us.

    • Joel

It’s an interesting idea which I’ve heard a few times before but find it hard to remember to put into practice.

      • raymond

        Hey Joel,

Write out the 5 questions and post it on a place where you’ll see it often. That’s what I do.

    • Michelle Vandepas

Another way to ask this would be to ask WHAT questions.
      What can I do now?
What can I do to improve myself?
      Thanks for the post!

      • raymond

        Hi Michelle,

        Great point!

After those WHAT questions, it should be followed by WHAT ELSE questions for continuous improvement.

What else can I do now?
What else can I do to improve myself?

    • David Rogers

I fundamentally disagree with the logic of what you are arguing. What quality question am I supposed to ask if I’m in pain?

      • raymond

        Hi David,

        Thanks for the disagreement.

There are a series of positive and negative questions which you can ask when you are in pain. Some of the examples are:

        Negative questions:
Am I going to die soon?
Why nobody seems to come and help me/care for me?
Why am I always in pain?

or, one can choose to ask some better questions such as:

What should I focus now? sweet memory? Solution? Other stuffs?
How should I switch my focus?
        How to break my pattern?
What else can I do to reduce/eliminate my pain? See a doctor? Take some painkiller? Get some help from _____?

    • Laptop Briefcases

Interesting take on asking questions. You’re right that when a question is posed in a negative way, you will find negative answers. I am a little skeptical about the poor dad/rich dad example. The poor dad is facing reality, while the rich dad is altering his finances for something he doesn’t necessarily need. It’s not practical to always spare other things to get something you want today.

      • raymond

        Hi Jeremy,

        Thank you for sharing that.

    • Jen @ blog writer

This is a great post. Many people think that good luck is something that happens to other people, when the truth is that we each of us attract our own good luck and opportunities through positive belief in ourselves and the universe! Jen

      • raymond

        Hi Jen,

I’m with you. I’m a believer that luck is created too. :)

    • Cheryl from thatgirlisfunny

I love this idea of asking quality questions. Last week, my computer crashed. I asked a lot of questions that weren’t quality and started out with “why didn’t you…?”

Thank you for this lesson and for the assignment. I love it! Daily practice so that asking quality questions becomes a happy habit :D

      • raymond

        Hi Cheryl,

That’s very nice. I’m glad that you get the right lesson at the time you need it. :)

“Why am I so stupid” – I’m sure nearly everyone ask that more then one time in life :P But isn’t it human to cause mistakes?! Would we are who we are without “stupid” decisions? I believe, faults are part of our life and help us, to make things better – to be more intelligent :)

      • raymond

        Hi Motivado,

I agree with you that faults are part of our life. The point is, learn from it instead of complain or ask negative questions about it.

    • Lisa

Hi Raymond: Thanks for the great information. I ask myself those useless questions often, and you are so right — I am attracting negativity by asking the “why me” questions. I don’t know how I missed it — but you sure opened my eyes today. Thank you!
p.s. – I am going to write down good quality questions right now!

      • raymond

        Hi Lisa,

Instead of asking “Why me?”, ask “Why not me?” because you’re gifted with the ability to face the challenge!

    • Sherri–Being the Change I Wish to See

I’m not sure I agree with the notion of attracting things to you, at least not in a physical sense. But how you think and what you ask yourself definitely affects your reality.

If you say “Don’t think of elephants.” what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Elephants. Instead you have to take the positive fork in the road. “Think of balloons.” You will think of balloons and not elephants.

Why am I so poor? Not a good question. You’re poor how? The better question would be “how do I improve my income and what steps must I take to make it happen?”

How we think wires our brains certain ways. Neurons that fire together wire together. If you keep thinking toxic thoughts, your brain wires all those together and you end up a toxic person. If you think positive thoughts and ask yourself positive questions, you get a different, more positive result.

But it’s not just thinking. It’s also action. Once you ask the better questions and come up with better answers, you have to put those answers to work or nothing changes.

If you think you can do something, you can do it. If you think you can’t, you won’t do it.

I learned in psychotherapy to be careful of your self-talk or you will talk yourself out of success and everything else positive in your life. Negative self-talk makes life worse. Positive self-talk makes it better.

Great article though. What you ask yourself is part of your self-talk. Asking better questions will change your life by changing your perceptions of yourself.

      • raymond

        Hi Sherri,

Thanks for the great insights and elaboration. I can’t agree more.

        I love this phrase:
“Neurons that fire together wire together”

Thank you for sharing it. :)

    • Benjamin

      Very nice, Raymond!

Weaving in Tony Robbins and Robert Kiyosaki… impressive.

I’ve really noticed this with questions… many ask negative ‘why’ questions as opposed to positive ‘how’ questions… I used to constantly do the same thing (and I still slip up from time to time).

For example: “Why do I always screw it up?” as opposed to “How can I get better at this?”

Consistently asking high quality questions eventually leads to a habit of constructive thinking which leads to much more positive tendencies in both the mind and the body.

      keep smiling,

      • raymond

        Hi Benjamin,

Thanks. Sometimes, I think it’s wonderful how simple flip in our brain can make a huge difference in our lives.

    • Bidet

This is very true, if you ask negative questions most likely you will see only the negative in yourself and it won’t help you at all, its better asking questions that can help you and not make you feel bad for yourself.

      • raymond

        Hi Bidet,

        You’re right about that.

    • Tyrone

      Hi Raymond,

This is such a great post and that’s so true. Everything that you think or ask yourself will also be how your mind is going to react on it and thus, finding ways to answer that question in your head. Definitely for me, the law of attraction again goes on a vice versa where when you think better, you act better, when you think worse, you’ll also attract worse things to happen straightaway.

Well, since we aren’t too perfect to be aware of these things always, we might be thinking negatively at times but with the power of “knowledge” there, you’ll be reminded you’re getting wrong at this and that you should be better. :)

Thanks a lot too for featuring Rich Dad Poor Dad idea. It’s one of my ever favorite books around!

      • raymond

        Hi Tyrone,

I agree with you. We are not perfect. And it’s handy to have the knowledge around to remind and correct us whenever our mind goes to the wrong direction.

    • LL Rhodes

I first learned the concept that the mind is a guided missile in Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz. Our mind uses our questions to id the target. He also pointed out that the part of our brain that does this does not see negative words. So that “Don’t do…” becomes “Do…”

My favorite question comes from Kurt Wright, Breaking the Rules, “What is the best thing to happen to you today?”

      • raymond

        Hi LL Rhodes,

Thanks for sharing. I love that question too. :)

    • Amy LeForge

This is a very interesting way to think. It makes great sense as well. Your brain is just retracting the info you asked for, and i can be wrong as you said.

    • Laptop Briefcases

@Amy: I’m in the same boat. I definitely see the benefits of positive thinking, but have trouble accepting the law of attraction. It just seems like a way of generalizing how something was achieved.

Is Anthony Robbins that SEO guru? I’m not sure. Anyway, I think this is a fantastic challenge. It’d be great to form a habit of asking yourself quality questions each day instead of dwelling on the negative and what you aren’t able to do.

Can someone please provide a few more examples of “quality questions”?

I think the most powerful question there that commonly ask is why am i so poor? And maybe because those people are lack of self-discipline. Actually, it’s easy to say but hard to do so I do believe that when you have a self-discipline and you will stick in with your goals through hardwork and patience you can attain your dreams.

Very insightful post. It’s true that when you ask yourself what’s wrong with you, you will only see the negative points about you. But if you can use that knowledge to then ask your brain how to rectify those things about you, it’s a positive question which might bring about positive answers and solutions for you.
