There is No Need to Set Goals for Year 2008
December 26, 2007 |
We are approaching the year 2008 very soon. Take a look back.
What you have done this year?
How much have you improved this year?
How much have you achieved in 2007?
Have you achieved all the goals that you have set at the beginning of the year?
Well, I believe only a small portion of you achieved the goals that you have set last January. It"s even worse if you do not have any goal at all. That means you just go with the flow and not knowing what you really want in your life.
How many of you set some great goals at the beginning of the year but when it comes to the end of the year you have done nothing to achieve it?
Here"s the thing. Why set the goals if you do not have the passion and desire to achieve them?
The goals would be as good as nothing.
Set goals for yourself only if you have the passion, desire, commitment and willing to put in necessary actions to achieve it. Not just want it but the goals that you MUST achieve.
I am very proud to say that I have achieved more than 80% of the goals that I set at the beginning of 2007. The rest are still in progress. Well, at least I do something about them (taking action) and not just write them down and put them on my vision wall.
To ensure that you folks set your goals for the year 2008 and really take the necessary action to achieve them all, I will give away a FREE goal setting tips ebook to all my subscribers (No, you don"t have to refer 3 friends this time).
So, if you are not my subscribers yet, please subscribe to my list by filling in your name and email (at the top left corner of this blog)
I wish you all the best in the year 2008.
P.S. To encourage the activities on this blog, I will only give away the Goal Setting Tips ebook once the number of comments for this month reaches 100. So, feel free to read the past articles that I have written and give your comments.

Greetings from Beijing.
Actually, my goal in 2007 is to improve my English. So I started a blog in English and set up a team to write in English.
I really did that ^_^
Anyway, I think the goals must be more reasonable, or somehow easy to be achieved. No big goal is needed if you just want to set up for one year.
Thanks and really look forward to your ebooks
Thankyou so much, this information really helped me…
Hi Aw,
I have just posted a comment on your blog. You have a nice blog and good English too.
Seems like you have achieved your goal of the year.
I’m looking forward to send out the book too.
Hi Jake,
I’m glad that it helps.
Goal setting is always a good idea. But what do you do when your circumstances change and opportunities beckon that weren’t there at the beginning of the year. While I acted on all the goals I could, so many things were out of my control. Clients who promised major projects disappeared. New jobs appeared out of nowhere that were completely unexpected. There’s something to be said for going with the flow.
I achieved almost all of my goals for 2007. The one major side effect has been an increase in my weight following my stopping smoking, the latter being a major goal.
The most important goal that I will have for 2008 will be to lose 15 Kgs of weight.
The rest will all be minor in comparison!
Sorry, by oversight, I omitted mentioning that I look forward to receiving your tips on goal setting.
Hi Anne Marie,
When we set our goals. Make sure we focus on the end result.
Say for example, if the end result is to earn $5k a month, then that’s your goal.
How or what you’re gonna do to achieve that is not your goal. That’s your strategy.
I would recommend you to read this article to understand more about plan and strategy. It may help.

Have a great day!
Hi Dining Room Tables,
First of all, I would like to congratulate you for your achievement.
Stop smoking is a great achievement.
With strong passion and commitment, I believe that you can lose your 15kgs next year.
Come on. Put more comments and I’m ready to send the goal setting tips ebook.
Raymond: After looking at it your way, I DID achieve my goal for 2007. My financial goal was to make at least $1000 per month in part-time my writing/blogging activities. I came very, very close to that goals. My other goals such as entering writing contests, going to blogging conferences, etc. were also met. So really, I did pretty well. Thanks for the advice.
Hi Anne,
I love your blog and I’m so glad that you have achieved your goals.
Like attracts like.
My final goal for this year is to get 100 comments for this month. The purpose is to encourage participation and interaction between blogger and readers.
I’m sure I can achieve it.
I hope you do! I want that report (HA!)
Thanks. I’ll have to visualize it everyday.
