People with stable financial situation can afford to spend some time helping others. But doing that when you are at risk of losing money, home etc - that is something worth mentioning. If you are a victim then you blame others for your misfortune and by not taking that responsibility you are saying that you are not in control of your own life. If you think like that then you are unlikely to make your own success in life.
