What Kids Taught Me About The Law of Attraction
February 17, 2008 |

Today, I’m going to answer the question I asked yesterday. If you have not read the story of the 3 scoops of ice-cream, you can read it here.
Here’s the question again
“Will you buy it for her? Why?”
Personally, I would not buy it (the 3 scoops ice-cream) for her. Obviously, money is not a big issue here but it’s rather the matter of the objective or the goal.
The objective I buy the ice-cream for her is to make her happy and seeing her feeling happy will make me happy too.
If she can’t handle a single scoop of ice-cream, I doubt that she can handle a 3-scoops-ice-cream. There’s a high possibility that the 3 scoops of ice-cream will fall on the ground again.
That will make the situation worse and by the end of the day, I would not achieve my goal, which is to make her happy.
What the story teach me about the Law of Attraction?
We are all like the little girl. We often ask for what we want or desire but often time, we fail to see the result. Why? One of the reasons the universe (or God) does not materialize our dreams is because we fail to handle those little success that we achieve daily.
Let me show you an example. If you do not know how to handle $100,000 properly, why on earth the universe would want to give you the $1,000,000 you asked for.
Wouldn’t that makes you more frustrated and sad? You bet!
The Solution
So, in order to achieve some big goals, you must first show the universe that you can handle the small and medium successes. I would recommend you to create your success journal.
Get a book and label it as your success journal. Write down at least 5 successes you achieve DAILY! The size of the success does not matter. It could be you accomplish some task that you have procrastinated for a long time, help your spouse with the dish, wash your car … etc.
This method will help you to acknowledge your success and when you begin to see your successes (able to handle your success), the universe will let you taste more, better and bigger successes.
Besides, it will motivate you to achieve more in your life.

Hi Raymond,
Reading this article reminded me of a list, ie a can-do-list. We normally feel negatives towards a difficult task, which at time not that difficult, even without trying. As long as we pratice this can-do-list guide and think positive we will achieve the impossible. Thanks for sharing this post.
Hi Rose,
Are you trying to relate to procrastination?
I have never heard of can-do-list and I’m grateful that you share it with me and others.
Thank you.
Hi Raymond,
It is about thinking, if we keep on saying I cannot do this I cannot do that, then what actually can we do. It’s about mentality you choose whether to be a winner or loser in whatever task given.
But for procrastination they have another terms of thinking, here the many types of distorted thinking. Overgeneralization, labeling, catastrophizing, lack of control, polarized thinking, filtering and mind reading. I think you understood more than me regard to all these terms. Do correct me as I’m still learning.
Thank you.
Hi Rose,
Thanks for sharing this but I still can’t see its relation to the post above.
Hi Raymond,
My point of view is just that if we know how to handle the $100,000 properly and treat it as a can-do-list rather than be negative we can be successful. I just see it from another angle, though it has no relation to the post above, sorry then if my comment is out of focus.
Lovely post Raymond. This has egged me on to start working at finishing my long procrastinated work.
Hi Nicole,
Glad to hear that you have create your starting point.
Now I see it!!!! How can u expect more than u can handle… totally can relate to that ice cream story. Thanks mr Raymond.
Hi Coachsha,
Thank you for visiting and for your comment.
I hope you enjoy the metaphor.
Oh wow, that’s neat. There is plenty I’ve procrastinated and have been looking for a way to start on. Initially if it’s not related to making money, I tend to put it off. Sometimes some of these things, such as cleaning, start adding up and before you know it’s a lot worse. I think building that journal will build some positive self esteem and a good feeling of accomplishment. I might do that later
You are so right about journals. I have six of them. One for each area of my life. It helps you appreciate the small things in this life. Thus, it makes each day very special. Even when it’s a bad hair day. You just know that a good day is right around the corner. I loved how you worded your thoughts.
Hi Francisco,
Procrastination is indeed a deadly disease. It’s good to hear that you are building your success journal.
Let me know how it works for you.
Hi LaRene,
Having 6 journals is fantastic! I have only 2
The journals helps me to focus on my successes instead of other negative things.
Once a while, I’ll flip the journal and read it and it gives me a lot of satisfaction.
Hi Ray,
Very true. Amazing how much we can learn from kids, huh?
Hi PreSchool Mama,
Perhaps they are the messegers from god.
Great article Raymond. It really got me thinking. And it makes such perfect sense. I’m going to take a good look at how I respond/react to the things that are already coming to me.
Hi Karen,
Nice to hear from you.
It’s cool to hear that you have some action plans for yourself.
T. Harv Ecker told this story. It’s a very good little parable and you’ve added to it with the success journal idea, which is very good.
Hi Brian,
I heard this story from one of his seminar too (last year).
He is a great story teller and I love the way he uses stories and metaphors to teach his audience. It’s an extremely fun way of learning.
